I was not designing all the characters of classic Sonic. I consulted with Mr. Naka, “Let’s allow various designers to create them.” It is because I thought that its world would expand with different designers creating them, rather than with my world only. Wonderful characters like Tails, Knuckles, Espio, Mighty, and Fang were born.

The current Sonic is being standardized. Of course there are also titles that respected worldwide artists. I think that it is the effort of everyone at SEGA, focusing on Mr. Iizuka. I think that Sonic is complete, and it will evolve even from now on.

As all of you know about Classic Sonic, there are various Sonics. It is various in Japan too. It is different depending on countries too. Various artists had been drawing Sonic. At that time, we took priority over the fact that there was no managing system, and that all of you would know about Sonic by absorbing the feelings of various artists.
