Tropical Resort

Tomoya Ohtani on Sonic Generations Original Soundtrack:

Tropical Resort

It’s still fresh in my memory…. It turned out that I would arrange the composition that I had just made recently, but I heard that Tropical Resort, which was the first stage of Sonic Colors, would become the final stage in Blue Adventure. First of all, I had a question, “How would I make an arrangement that seems to suit the atmosphere of the final stage from the original that has cheerful atmosphere??”…. Attempting to make it for the time being, I increased the tempo and tried out a minor-key arrangement that has the feeling of tension, but the arrangement that completely changed the impression to that extent was rejected because it was inappropriate for this game. (Laughs) Tropical Resort is typical of Tropical Resort to the bitter end, so using the original for Act1 (classic) was decided and I tried to complete it as an arrangement that increased the power more groovily, leaving the original’s atmosphere as it is for Act2 (modern). I had attempted to finish it … and if I made the arrangement with power to this extent during Sonic Colors, I would somehow honestly think, “In that case, might it have the impact as a composition of a stage?” (Laughs)
